Tiffincategory01 - Poli bhaji + Mishra pithanchi Dhirdi

Image
#tiffinboxseries  Since a few of you asked - what I pack for school breaks, making this Tiffinbox series :). Being 2 most important meals of the day, I try making combinations in such a way that it has lot of vegetables, curd plus at least 1 fibre element of fruits or raw vegetables. Have made a few categories in terms of dishes and food combinations. Will try to share all one at a time. Today's breakfast+lunch category is:  Mix flour chillas and fulka + dry vegetable fry:  Bfast - Mix flour (Horsegram flour+Maize flour+Besan+Rawa) chilla with lots of coriander leaves, crushed curry leaves(mom's tip:)) with raw mango chutney called Methamba  Lunch - Fulka + Bhendichi bhaaji (Bhindi ki sabji/ Bendikai palya/Okra fry) + Cucumber raita  This is my go-to combination on a Monday morning or after holidays or days when I couldn't do the prep well earlier night. Easy to prep, highly nutritious and minimal cooking time.

Street superfoods

Image
Only cheese and butter infused street foods are tasty is a myth. More than any other street food vendors who get famous through social media, I've deep respect for these local low key street food sellers for their selection of foods that they sell.  Both these street foods depicted in the picture are actually indian superfoods.  Boiled groundnuts - an extremely rich source of nutrients & Coal roasted hot, crispy, light masala churmure/kurmura/murmura/puffed rice -  A very light, low calorie evening snack for small appetite. It's roasted in very less oil, we can make that out by appearance and even while eating. My all time favourite. We don't get that kind of crunch at home. You'll see them everywhere on streets near local markets, parks, lakes, public places. Do drop by and buy at least 1 portion from them. They earn and you get really healthy & an absolute tasty snack. Its a win win!  #boiledpeanuts #groundnuts #puffedrice #streetfoodindia #superfood...

Live Dandiya music & Gujrathi food - an experience to remember!

It was my first time when I was going to attend a live Dandiya event with grand music & Gujrati food stalls. It was organised on a huge playground with all the required set-up. As soon as we entered the enclosed area dedicated for Dandiya dance-form, I got an overall idea about its grandeur.  Live Dandiya dance event and Gujarathi food relish is definitely an experience to cherish! Huge designated space for Dandiya with a live band & number of stalls of typical Gujarathi tasty food.  This event actually proves that music band doesn't have to be always with guitarists, keyboardists always. This traditional music with its speed gradually increasing from low to high is no less than any international music band. There are certain kinds of beats and rhythm on which Garba or Dandiya is performed. It can't be described. It has to be experienced :). So, these beats start with a very slow speed, eventually reaching a climax with high speed beats with everything being play...

Pune and 'the pattice culture'

Image
Pune, a cozy city nestled amongst beautiful small hills, known for its rich history, heritage & food! When we hear Pune & its food, we predominantly hear Pohe, Misal, Vada pav, Sabudana khichdi & of course the beautiful tea, to which the Puneites fondly call Amrutatulya Chaha. A beverage akin to Elixir, aka Amrit! Haha, isn't it fascinating; this kind of comparison! No doubt Pune is a Pohe ani Chaha (Pohe and Tea) city. At every nook and corner, we can find tasty Pohe, Vada pav & tea stalls. But very few know that Punekars (read it as local name to Puneites) have this deep, sincere love for bakery; and particularly for the 'Pattice' , famously known as the 'Puff'! Yes, the veg/egg/chicken puffs that we find in all places in India, they are called 'Pattice' in Pune & Patties is spelled as Pattice again only in Pune! There is this less-known Pattice culture that has been completely ingrained in Pune. And why I say culture is because the...
